Renewable energy for a sustainable future
Global thinking starts here on campus
You may not realize it walking around on the Hayward campus, but the roofs of the buildings support nearly a megawatt of average electrical power generation that supplements the electrical energy demands of the campus. We will have a major installation of solar coming in 2025 over our parking lots! How can we develop as leaders in promoting energy efficiency, renewable technologies, and sustainable practices?
Ryan teaches a variety of courses related to sustainability (PHYS 109: Exploring Physics in the Outdoors, PHYS 308: Sustainable Energy Systems, PHYS 307: Social Impact Through Sustainable Solar Design) and serves on committees on campus related to sustainability issues both in our campus infrastructure as well as how sustainability is connected to our academic community.
